Born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, Raul "Boo" Sanchez's basketball journey began in his early years. At Taos High School, he emerged as a driving force, leading the team to an impressive 2nd place finish in the state tournament of 1998. His standout performance earned him all-state honors.
Continuing to pursue his passion for the game, Raul continued his basketball journey at Adams State University. Throughout his four years at Adams State, Raul showcased his athletic prowess while also earning recognition for his outstanding academic achievements, garnering all-academic honors.
In the Albuquerque basketball community, Raul is a household name. Widely regarded as a local legend, his unforgettable playing style has left an indelible mark on the competition. He is the heart and soul of Del Cielo Basketball and his contributions to the game won't be forgotten.
In his professional life, Raul has transitioned to a role as an elementary PE teacher, channeling his passion for physical activity into educating and inspiring young minds. With dedication and commitment, he is currently in the midst of his 21st year in this rewarding profession, shaping the lives of countless students through his enthusiasm for physical education.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Raul is a devoted family man. He takes pride in being the father of twin daughters, affectionately describing them as "ninja warriors" for their spirited energy and adventurous nature.
